About Us

Our story begins with our grandfather, G.W. Anderson. G.W. grew up during the Great Depression. After high school, he began working for F.W. Woolworth Co. where he worked his way up from the bottom, eventually managing several stores in Michigan and Ohio. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he entered the U.S. Army Air Force until discharged as a commissioned officer in 1946. After World War II, he returned to Cleveland to manage another Woolworth store. In 1948, he moved his family to Salt Lake City. With the help of a fellow officer he met in the service, G.W. started an oil and gas leasing service, acquiring oil and gas leases and performing various land check duties for major oil companies. After a very difficult first year, he brought in an experienced oil man from Casper, Wyoming as a partner and his leasing business boomed. Within the next year, they had 50 attorneys working in various parts of the Rocky Mountain area. G.W. turned the leasing business over to his partner in 1955 and became an independent oil and gas producer. He stayed active in this business for over 60 years and worked until he turned 100. He really enjoyed having many of his family members working with him. G.W.’s greatest accomplishment was his family: his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their spouses. He was a loving mentor to all, an incredible example of hard work, and a huge advocate of education.

As a last legacy for his family, G.W. began assembling various mineral and royalty interests throughout the Rocky Mountain states. His legacy lives on as many of these properties are continuing to produce after 60 years have passed! As his children, grandchildren, and now even great-grandchildren, we have continued the legacy by continuing to buy and manage additional oil and gas properties. Over the years, we have learned the ins and outs of buying, owning, and selling mineral and royalty interests. We know when to sell and when to hold our mineral rights. When we do decide to sell, we know who is willing to pay the most for mineral interests in the area. We are always happy to share what we have learned about owning mineral rights and provide our candid thoughts on the best options available to our clients.
